What Is Floor Removal & Disposal?
Floor removal and disposal covers tearing out existing flooring, whether carpet, tile, hardwood, laminate, or vinyl, and hauling the debris away responsibly. It's a necessary first step before nearly every flooring replacement project, and for Argyle, TX homeowners tackling a renovation, it's also a chance to properly inspect the subfloor underneath before new material goes down. Different flooring types require different removal techniques, particularly tile, which is often mortared firmly to the substrate, versus carpet, which typically lifts more easily but leaves tack strips and staples that need careful handling.
Why You Shouldn't Wait
DIY removal often underestimates how much debris and dust older flooring generates, particularly with adhesive-backed materials or mortar-set tile that can damage the subfloor if pried up incorrectly. Improper disposal of certain older flooring materials, including some vinyl and tile adhesives, can also run into local regulations depending on age and composition. And rushing removal to save time frequently means the subfloor doesn't get the thorough inspection it needs, letting hidden moisture damage or structural issues go unnoticed until they cause problems with the new flooring installed on top.
Our Process
Site Protection
Adjoining rooms and pathways are protected before removal begins to contain dust and debris to the work area.
Careful Removal
Flooring is removed using techniques appropriate to the material, minimizing damage to the subfloor underneath wherever possible.
Debris Clearing
Removed material, tack strips, staples, or old adhesive residue are cleared from the space as removal progresses.
Subfloor Inspection
Once the old flooring is out, we inspect the subfloor for moisture, damage, or unevenness and report any findings to you clearly.
Responsible Disposal
Debris is hauled away and disposed of properly, so you're not left arranging separate removal or dump runs.
What to Expect
Removal timelines depend heavily on flooring type and square footage, ranging from a few hours for a small carpeted room to a full day or more for tile removal across a large area. We handle all disposal, so there's nothing left for you to arrange separately. If we find subfloor damage during removal, we'll walk you through it and provide clear pricing before moving forward with any repair.
